Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy (OT) is an allied health profession that involves the therapeutic use of everyday activities, or occupations, to treat the physical, mental, developmental, and emotional ailments that impact a patient's ability to perform day-to-day tasks. An OT is responsible for the evaluation, treatment planning, and treatment implementation of all assigned patients of all age populations by therapeutic techniques to improve, rehabilitate, or maintain a patient's ability to perform everyday activities. Responsible for completion of all necessary documentation related to patient care and rehab care department projects and operating procedures / tasks. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principals of growth and development and assess data reflective of the patient's current status in relation to their age specific needs.

Job Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited college of Occupational Therapy.

Licensure: NBCOT certification preferred; must be licensed or eligible in State of Tennessee; BLS / CPR required.

Experience: May be new graduate.

Skills: Ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs that are age appropriate. Ability to select proper instrumentation/supplies appropriate for age group of patient served.
