Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Comprehensive Rehabilitation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: State RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: ASN Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs. Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Completes initial assessment upon patient admission to the rehabilitation unit and develops an appropriate rehabilitation plan of care. Implements rehabilitation plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Coordinates nursing care activities in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team. Implements procedures and theories related to rehabilitation practice and scope of service. Shares information about the disease processes underlying disabilities. Teaches nursing techniques to help the rehabilitation patient and their families develop self-care skills. Participates in rehabilitation rounds and team meetings. Reinforces the teaching done by therapy in rehabilitation and provides resource materials for patients' changing needs. Possesses the specialized knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide care for people with physical disabilities and chronic illnesses. Fulfills all requirements of rehabilitation departmental competencies.
