- Provide comprehensive respiratory therapy in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and physician direction.
- Perform a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures in the outpatient setting, including pulmonary function testing (PFT) and spirometry, stress testing and EKGs, arterial blood gases (ABGs), suctioning, breathing treatments, Holter monitor application, six-minute walk tests, and overnight oximetry set-up.
- Provide accurate and timely testing to support clinical diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient care outcomes.
- Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment and related devices.
- Ensure equipment is functioning safely and in compliance with established standards.
- Promote and maintain a culture of safety, ensuring high standards of care and adherence to safety protocols.
- Identify, report, and document suspected or confirmed medical errors and unsafe practices in a timely manner.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by actively participating in error prevention and safety initiatives.
- Educate patients and families on safe care practices and the importance of maintaining a safe healthcare environment.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, therapies, and care plans to support understanding and compliance.
- Participate in call and standby assignments as scheduled to support continuous patient care needs.
- Perform other clinical or departmental duties as assigned by supervisory staff to support operational needs.
- Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy program.
- Successful completion of National Registry Board examinations.
- Current Kansas state Respiratory Therapist license (CRT, RRT).
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP required
- Ability to provide respiratory care across the lifespan, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations.
- Demonstrates strong clinical judgement and attention to detail in delivering safe, effective patient care.
- Maintains a compassionate, patient-centered approach with respect for individuals and families.
- Communicates clearly and professionally with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Works effectively both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Remains calm and focused in high-pressure or emergency situations.
- Shows adaptability and flexibility in responding to changing patient and departmental needs.
- Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and a commitment to high standards of care.
- Maintains a continuous focus on patient safety and quality improvements.
- Proficient in performing a full range of respiratory therapy procedures in accordance with clinical standards and physician orders.
- Skilled in setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of respiratory care equipment.
- Strong knowledge of respiratory anatomy, physiology, and disease processes across all age groups.
- Ability to accurately assess patient needs and respond appropriately to changes in conditions.
- Competent in emergency response situations, including BLS and ACLS protocols.
- Effective patient and family education skills to support understanding of respiratory conditions and treatments.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate within an interdisciplinary healthcare setting.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing clinical demands.
- Commitment to maintaining patient safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Full-time, non-exempt is expected to work 32-40 hours per week. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
