Registered Nurse - Step Down/Cardiovascular

Location:  Petoskey, Michigan

Start Date:  06-29-2026

Contract Type:  Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts with 36 hour guarantee, every other weekend required, possible on-call

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical care to cardiovascular patients using sound judgment and critical thinking
• Monitor and support patients recovering from advanced cardiac procedures including PTCA, stents, TAVR, and open heart surgery
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional outcomes for over 4000 cardiology patients annually
• Participate in cutting-edge research through the NISUS department's national clinical trials
• Float to similar units as needed to support patient care across the facility
• Maintain strict attendance standards to ensure consistent, high-quality care for every patient

Knowledge & Skills

• Stepdown nursing expertise
• Cardiac monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Post-operative care for open heart surgery patients
• Congestive heart failure management
• Electrophysiology studies support
• Clinical judgment and critical thinking

Requirements

• Active Michigan nursing license (LARA and Nursys verification required)
• Minimum 1 year of Stepdown experience
• Proficiency in Cardiac care and EKG interpretation
• Willingness to float to similar units
• Skills checklist completed within the last year
• Travel experience required
