$19.00–$22.50/hr (DOE) + full benefits + company-wide 15–17% profit-sharing bonus (paid twice a year — roughly an extra $3–4/hr equivalent)

Job Summary

A family-owned seed company in the Bloomington, IL area is hiring a Packaging Supervisor to lead its bagging and packaging operation. The Packaging Supervisor makes sure every seed package — bags or bulk units — is labeled legibly and accurately to each customer's instructions, supervises the crew working within the conditioning processes, and owns product integrity, inventory, paperwork, and equipment readiness for the season. This is a hands-on leadership role at an employer that invests in its people, shares profits company-wide, and values employees who want to learn the seed business and grow — not just collect a paycheck.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure all seed packages (bags or bulk units) are labeled legibly and accurately according to customer instructions.

• Provide daily supervision of employees working within the conditioning processes.

• Ensure a safe work environment and implement company safety programs.

• Implement the company's Quality Management System (QMS) within the area of responsibility.

• Make suggestions on safety and process improvement.

• Ensure product integrity through thorough cleaning between bagging runs.

• Review customer bagging instructions prior to each run to ensure accurate labeling and that seed is placed into the correct customer package with the appropriate tag(s).

• Maintain accurate inventory counts (finished units and all packaging supplies) and accurate completion of all bagging paperwork.

• Perform preseason maintenance on bagging, conveyor, and palletizing equipment to prevent downtime during conditioning season.

• Ensure proper setup of ink-jet bag labeling equipment.

• Ensure seed pallets are neatly stacked and securely wrapped prior to placement in the warehouse.

• Maintain adequate inventory of packaging supplies (tags, bags, stretch wrap, pallets, slipsheets, etc.).

• Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area.

Education & Experience Requirements

• Leadership ability — can direct and teach a crew, take initiative, and OWN the packaging process end to end.

• Seed-plant, ag, packaging, or production experience preferred, plus genuine interest in learning the seed business; the company will train the right person who wants to grow.

• Strong attention to detail — accurate labeling, tags, inventory counts, and paperwork are critical.

• Mechanical aptitude for preseason maintenance on bagging, conveyor, and palletizing equipment and for setting up ink-jet labeling equipment.

• Basic computer skills (inventory, paperwork, labeling systems).

• Physically able to lift ~30–75 lbs, stand/walk all day, and work in a dusty, pollen-heavy environment; comfortable with some forklift use.

• Reliable, stable work history (long tenure is valued).

Compensation & Benefits

• $19-$22.50/hr
