The Opportunity We’re hiring a Senior Director, Litigation & Regulatory Enforcement to lead Dave’s litigation and adversarial regulatory response function. This is a highly strategic role reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, with broad ownership across consumer litigation, arbitration, regulatory investigations, enforcement matters, and complex disputes as Dave continues to grow. You’ll shape how Dave approaches legal risk at scale — building the frameworks, processes, and long-term strategy that support a fast-evolving fintech platform. You’ll work closely with Legal, Compliance, Product, Risk, Operations, and executive leadership to navigate high-impact matters while helping the business make thoughtful, durable decisions. You’ll help build the function, influence how work gets done, and create systems that hold up as the company and regulatory landscape evolve. What You’ll Build & Own Lead Dave’s strategy and response across consumer litigation, class actions, arbitrations, regulatory investigations, enforcement actions, and other adversarial matters Partner with outside counsel to develop defense strategies, oversee case management, manage budgets, and ensure high-quality legal work product Build scalable processes for litigation holds, discovery, document management, and regulatory response coordination Advise executive leadership and the Board on litigation and regulatory developments, risk exposure, settlement strategy, and potential business impact Develop proactive strategies with Compliance, Product, and Risk teams to identify and reduce litigation and enforcement risk across Dave’s products and operations Over time, help build and lead a high-performing litigation and enforcement team that can support Dave’s continued growth and product expansion The Impact This role sits at the intersection of legal strategy, operational scale, and member trust. Your work will help Dave navigate a rapidly evolving regulatory environment while building sustainable systems that support long-term growth and protect the member experience. What We’re Looking For Experience & Technical Foundation J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing 12+ years of legal experience, including significant experience focused on consumer financial services litigation and regulatory matters Deep experience managing complex litigation from inception through resolution, including class actions, arbitrations, discovery, motion practice, and trial strategy Demonstrated experience handling regulatory inquiries and enforcement matters involving agencies such as the CFPB, FTC, SEC, OCC, FRB, FDIC, state attorneys general, and state financial regulators Strong knowledge of consumer financial services laws and regulations, including TILA, TISA, EFTA, FCRA, GLBA, UDAAP, ROSCA, and related state consumer protection laws Experience partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders including Product, Operations, Compliance, and executive leadership Strong judgment balancing legal, operational, and business considerations in complex situations Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to executive leadership and Boards of Directors Bonus Points Experience in fintech, digital banking, payments, or financial services technology Combination of law firm and in-house legal leadership experience Experience building or scaling litigation and regulatory response functions Familiarity with legal operations tools, AI-enabled legal workflows, and modern legal technology platforms What Makes Someone Successful Here You take ownership of outcomes, not just individual matters.
