AP Professionals has been retained by a long-term care facility with a well-established and exceptional reputation in search of a Director of Billing. This position provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all billing, reimbursement, and revenue cycle activities. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely billing of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, Hospice room and board, commercial insurance, and private pay accounts.

The Director oversees accounts receivable management, collections, claims submission, denial resolution, regulatory compliance, and reimbursement optimization. This position plays a critical role in maximizing revenue, improving cash flow, and ensuring compliance with payer and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue Cycle Leadership & Reimbursement Management

• Serve as the organization's subject matter expert on payer sources, reimbursement methodologies, and revenue cycle operations.
• Oversee all billing, collections, and accounts receivable functions to ensure optimal financial performance.
• Monitor changes to Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, commercial insurance, and other payer regulations, communicating impacts and recommendations to leadership.
• Analyze reimbursement trends and identify opportunities to improve net revenue and reduce payment delays.
• Review and interpret payer contracts, reimbursement schedules, and billing guidelines to maximize reimbursement.

Payer Relations & Revenue Recovery

• Develop and maintain productive relationships with payer representatives and managed care organizations.
• Lead efforts to resolve complex payer disputes, underpayments, recoupments, and reimbursement discrepancies.
• Direct appeal processes related to denied claims and significant reimbursement issues.
• Conduct payment variance and underpayment analyses and implement corrective action plans.
• Drive revenue recovery initiatives and ensure timely collection of outstanding receivables.

Operational Collaboration & Reporting

• Partner with Admissions, Clinical, and Finance teams to optimize payer utilization and reimbursement opportunities.
• Establish billing controls, performance metrics, and accountability standards related to collections and reimbursement.
• Provide leadership with regular reports on payer mix, reimbursement trends, denial activity, collection performance, and financial risk indicators.
• Support organizational initiatives aimed at improving revenue cycle efficiency and effectiveness.

Team Leadership & Talent Management

• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to billing and revenue cycle staff.
• Oversee staffing, recruitment, employee development, performance management, and succession planning.
