The Benefits & Authorizations Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring that employees and clients receive accurate and timely benefits information and authorizations. This position is responsible for managing and processing benefit claims, verifying eligibility, and coordinating with various departments to facilitate smooth benefits administration. The clerk acts as a liaison between employees, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to benefits coverage. Attention to detail and adherence to regulatory compliance are essential to maintain the integrity of benefits programs. Ultimately, this role supports organizational efficiency by ensuring that all benefits and authorizations are handled accurately and promptly, contributing to employee satisfaction and operational success.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
• Proven experience in benefits administration, claims processing, or a related clerical role.
• Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs, insurance terminology, and authorization processes.
• Proficiency with office software such as Microsoft Office Suite and benefits management systems.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a healthcare or insurance environment.
• Familiarity with federal and state regulations governing employee benefits.
• Certification related to benefits administration (e.g., CEBS) is a plus.
• Strong customer service experience in a benefits or HR setting.
• Ability to analyze and interpret benefits policies and communicate them clearly.

Responsibilities:

• Process and verify employee benefits claims and authorizations in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of benefits usage, authorizations, and communications with employees and external providers.
• Coordinate with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and internal departments to resolve issues related to benefits coverage and authorizations.
• Respond promptly to employee inquiries regarding benefits status, eligibility, and claim procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to benefits administration.
