ANTICIPATED POSITION FOR 2026-2027 SY Middle School Principal - Leave Replacement Position
Anticipated Start Date: October 13, 2026
David Brearley Middle School QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Master's Degree from an accredited or approved institution required.
2. Valid New Jersey Department of Education certification as a Principal and/or Supervisor required.
3. Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience at the middle school and/or high school level preferred.
4. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with middle school and/or high school programs, curriculum, instruction, student supports, and school operations.
5. Ability to serve as an instructional leader and support effective teaching, learning, assessment, and professional growth.
6. Outstanding communication, collaboration, organization, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
7. Ability to work effectively with students, staff, families, administration, and the school community.
8. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
9. Must meet NJ Residency requirements as per the New Jersey First Act, N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70). The successful candidate will have the following attitudes and value systems:

• caring while firm disposition to manage approximately 350 middle school students and address student discipline; investigate and process harassment, intimidation, and bullying incidents; and foster a positive school climate.
• knowledge of student information systems, including scheduling, grading, and transcript processes
• a commitment to outreaching and partnering with parents and the community
• conflict resolution skills necessary to mediate challenging situations REPORTS TO: Superintendent TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Minimum daily rate of $500 or other negotiated rate based on years of experience.
• The employee is not eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid sick and personal leave accruals (pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement), and enrollment in the New Jersey Teachers' Pension and Annuity Fund (TPAF) or the Public Employees' Retirement System.
• The position is not eligible for additional compensation in the form of stipends for extracurricular activities, coaching, or tuition reimbursement based on district policy.
• In accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:16-1:1, time accrued in a leave replacement position does not count towards tenure.
