VPS Security, LLC is hiring a 3rd Shift (SWING) Security Officer in Gainesville, FL (6:00PM–2:00AM) . We’re looking for punctual, dependable professionals who uphold high standards while protecting employees, clients, guests, and property.  This is a weekend position, Friday and Saturday nights from 6PM-2AM.

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular and random patrols around the assigned area.
• Monitor, inspect, and protect the property, staff, and environment by keeping the location secure. 
• After business hours, check doors, windows, and gates to ensure the property is secure.
• Monitors crowds.
• Use provided communication devices, such as two-way radios, clearly and concisely.
• Escorts discharged staff, trespassers, and other unwelcome parties off the premises.
• Report suspicious activity on the property to management in detail.
• Provide detailed reports on daily activities and any incidents that may have occurred to management. This includes the Pass-down Report at the end of each shift.
• Maintain logs, including the Vehicle sign-out inspection report if approved to use a company vehicle, UTV, Golf cart, or any other motorized device for transportation.
• Assists dispatch with monitoring surveillance cameras as needed.
• Assist with special events and other on-site activities required by the client.
• Perform CPR or first aid when needed.
• Contact law enforcement or the fire department in case of an emergency.
• Maintain uniforms and equipment in compliance with the company standards.

Required Skills / Abilities:

• Detailed understanding of best security policies, practices, and the law.
• Ability to learn the layout/site plan of all client properties and buildings.
• Keen and observant eye to ensure any suspicious activity does not go unnoticed.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals and situations (low & high pressure).
• Great customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills when dealing with business customers and other visitors to the property.
• Ability to act with integrity and in a professional manner.
• Ability to remain calm and act efficiently in high-pressure situations.
• Ability to operate emergency equipment.
• First Aid and CPR certifications.
• Ability to work with confidential and classified information.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Must pass a background check and drug test.

Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations, and standards.

Education / Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience is a plus, but not required.
• Must have a current State of Florida Security License.
• Valid driver’s license with clean DMVR and current auto insurance coverage is a plus

  Physical Demands / Working Conditions

• Ability to patrol the property and access areas quickly.
• Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods, in all types of weather. Note: Officers average 20,000+ steps/day.
• Ability to sit at a desk, work on a computer, and monitor cameras for prolonged periods.
• Great physical strength and agility. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds at a time.
