Each team member is fully invested in our mission and we bring an energy to work every day that propels our business and motivates us all to Go Beyond.The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution - from technologies and investments to supply chain, manufacturing and test operations, facilities management, and information technology services.What You'll Do:Role tasks may include cleaning, parts/materials preparation, mechanical /electrical assembly, polymerics processing, manual soldering, adhesive/bonding, masking, and paint operations.While executing manufacturing operations apply an advanced level of knowledge and skills in hardware assembly, troubleshooting and repair.Duties and tasks are varied and moderate in complexity.Apply an advanced competency in use of hand tools, assembly tooling and general manufacturing equipment.Must complete certification training and maintain required certifications as required.Apply solid computer skills to access & input data via computer interface or automated equipment.Utilize reading and comprehension skills to follow documented build instruction and/or suggest revision to existing instruction.May inspect or verify work of less experienced technicians.Perform rework and paint touch-up operations on flight hardware.Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.Perform other duties as necessary.What You'll Need:High School diploma or equivalent plus 8 years or more related experience or a related 2-year technical degree and 6 years or more related experience.Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor's or Master's, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.A current, active Secret security clearance is required.A good mechanical aptitude, with good dexterity and hand/eye coordination.Must be comfortable with digital scales for weighing resins and epoxies for bonding and repairing of composites.Must be comfortable with standard manufacturing tools including torque wrenches, calipers, scales, grinders, drills, media blasters, fasteners, rivet guns, power tools etc.Experience with mixing epoxies, paints, and adhesives for bonding/repair of any necessary components to complete individual parts and or final products while maintaining appropriate weight and dimensional tolerances.A keen eye during paint touch-up, for noticing subtle flaws, damages and foreign objects and debris within antennas to ensure high standards of quality compliance.Maintaining an understanding of each individual parts purpose and place in the assembly process to ensure easy installation of all components, and final assembly to avoid any fitment or tolerance related issues.Ability to demonstrate manual soldering skills that are compliant per J-STD-001 is preferred but not required.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Must be a self-starter, ambitious and a conscientious individual.Experience or familiarity with any of the following areas is preferred; equipment maintenance, composite layups, mechanical and/or electronic assembly.Experience with in the Aerospace or Medical device industry is preferred but not required.Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site full-time. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.Working Conditions:Ball Aerospace is a drug-free workplace, which is imperative to the health and safety of all employees and is required as a condition of receiving contracts from federal agencies.
