To be considered, applicants must have at least a Professional Engineering Licensure and 5 years of bridge design experience. What You’ll Be Doing Perform or supervise calculations and analysis for designing bridge and transportation structures using various bridge design software programs. Perform or supervise load ratings on bridges of various types, sizes, and complexities. Review calculations and design details developed by others. Attend meetings with clients and other professionals and organizations. Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule, and project constraints. Review construction related submittals. Organize and maintain project files. Supervise and mentor Structural EITs and interns. Assist with marketing bridge and structure design work. What You Need To Have Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Master of Engineering preferred but not required. Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.). 5 to 9 years of engineering experience in bridge design. DOT experience strongly preferred. Skilled in the use of OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Designer, STAAD, CSi Bridge, MIDAS, AASHTOWARE BrR, Mathcad. Technical expertise for layout & design of bridges and related highway structures. Familiarity with rehabilitation of existing bridges and highway structures. Knowledge of AASHTO and other pertinent bridge design specifications. Familiarity with DOT bridge standards and design manuals. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and post offer fit for duty evaluation if applicable. Valid driver’s license and satisfactory MVR. Why Volkert?
