Job Description

Summary: Knowledgeable in the operation and initiation of all vital signs monitoring in the operating rooms, catheterization laboratories, intensive care units, and all other patient areas. Knowledgeable about all anesthesia supplies and equipment. Must have completed the Anesthesia Technician I training period and passed tests for Anesthesia Technician I before being promoted.

Duties And Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates knowledge about all monitoring and anesthesia equipment and the use thereof, according to procedure manual standards.
• Sets-up, checks calibrations and performance of all monitoring equipment before connecting to patients.
• Inventories anesthesia and monitoring supplies and orders as needed.
• Restocks and cleans anesthesia machines and carts following each procedure.
• Follows Operating Room Scrub Attire procedure and departmental Infection Control Procedure. Cleans workrooms and disinfects equipment between patient usage.
• Responds to Code Blue pages and assists with patient monitoring, defibrillations, and transport. Maintains current CPR certification.
• Responds appropriately and performs all duties when assigned the pager for each location and when on on call.
• Completes and passes tests given by the Education Coordinator and completes and passes all hospital required safety in-services annually. Must take the national exam for Certified Anesthesia Technician annually when eligible.
• Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards.
• Demonstrates the components of the ICARE values statement.
• Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Prefer minimum of 30 hours of college credit.

Experience Requirements: Work for 1 year as Anesthesia Technician I and pass all tests given by Education Coordinator with an 85% or better score.
