Mobile Diesel Mechanic II - 2nd shift

Job Overview Mobile Diesel Technician Level II – responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, and light repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile field environment. Works the 2nd shift (Tuesday‑Saturday) and may be eligible for commission or incentive programs. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles. Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engine, transmission, clutch, and differential components. Diagnose, adjust, and repair equipment using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other test instruments. Road test vehicles to confirm proper operation and identify malfunctions. Maintain parts inventory on company‑issued service truck and reconcile periodically. Operate service vehicle, perform safety checks, and conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections. Interact effectively with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues. Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage daily schedule independently. Document all work in the repair order system via company iOS device and TRAIT application. Complete DOT forms and all required documentation in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Requirements High School Diploma or GED with at least 3 years of related experience (or equivalent education and 5 years of experience). Must possess a set of hand tools required for the job. Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire. Must successfully complete a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical. Valid DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining, or otherwise a DOT physical. Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and a valid state driver’s qualification file. Safe drivers required; a valid driver’s license is mandatory. Certifications Required: ASE T8 (PMI) within 18 months. Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), ASE T4 (Brakes), ASE T5 (Suspension), ASE T6 (Electrical & Electronic Systems), ASE T7 (HVAC), ASE 608/609. Skills & Abilities Strong analytical skills to assess new information for problem‑solving and decision‑making. Physical endurance: lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor. Superior communication: convey information clearly and engage in effective two‑way communication. Ability to select appropriate tools and equipment for tasks. Spatial judgment: accurately judge distances between objects. Logical reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions and conclusions.
