Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level II trauma center in Farmington, NM, requiring a minimum of 1 year of med/surg experience and an active NM or compact RN license.

Details

• Work on a 43-bed Medical/Surgical unit within a 198-bed Level II trauma center serving the Four Corners region of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah
• Patient population consists of adults 18 years of age and older with diagnoses including cirrhosis, sepsis, pneumonia, respiratory illnesses, wounds, and CHF
• Patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:6
• Equipment used includes VS machines, bladder scanners, IV pumps, thermal imaging, lifts, and tube feeding pumps
• EMR: Cerner
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 hours per week
• Facility policy recommends all staff work at least 2 weekend shifts per month
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required per facility needs
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (must be AHA-issued)
• Minimum 1 year of med/surg experience required; 2 years preferred
• ADN degree or higher required
• Skills checklist must reflect an overall rating of at least 3.2
• Area-specific competency exam required for consideration

Additional Information

• The facility is a Level II trauma center; due to its regional location, Trauma Level I, II, and III cases are flown in from the surrounding area
• Hospital services include medical, surgical, rehabilitation, a childbirth center, cancer center, nephrology unit, pediatric unit, inpatient behavioral health, day surgery, and extensive imaging and lab services
• Charge nurse experience is preferred but not required; oncology skills are helpful but not necessary
• Block scheduling will be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Farmington, NM is located in the San Juan River Valley in northwest New Mexico, approximately 1 hour from Durango, CO and 3 hours from Albuquerque, NM
• The area features three rivers, four golf courses, five lakes, six National Parks, and thousands of acres for outdoor recreation
