Registered Respiratory Therapist

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide pulmonary care under the direction of a physician. This role involves assisting adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients both critically ill and those with chronic conditions. You will perform patient assessments, implement respiratory care plans, and conduct various diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures across different care settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency situations, including Code Blue and Code White.
• Manage airway procedures, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning.
• Administer aerosolized medications and manage ventilators.
• Perform oral hygiene and maintain airway support devices, such as BiPAP and CPAP.
• Facilitate oxygen delivery and therapeutic monitoring.
• Conduct chest film analysis and blood gas collection, including analysis.
• Analyze EKG readings and ensure accurate documentation of procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and supplies.
• Participate in CAP and JC surveys to ensure compliance and quality of care.
• Take on responsibilities such as Shift Leader or Team Leader when required.
• Possess advanced practice skills, including therapeutic gas management, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy assistance, and monitoring hemodynamics.
• Perform nocturnal SpO2 evaluations and assist in polysomnography and transport duties.

Qualifications

• Active RT or RCP License in the state of employment.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required via AHA.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by the NBRC is mandatory.
• Prior adult ICU experience is essential.
• 1 to 3 years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Critical care experience may allow for CRT certification acceptance.

Work Schedule

This position requires night shifts, with specific shifts from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The therapist will float between multiple locations within the region.

Additional Requirements

• Weekend and holiday shifts are required on an every-other-weekend basis.
• Must adhere to the established dress code, which includes wearing gray scrubs.
