Summary of Responsibilities

The Controller is responsible for the organization’s financial operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Compile and analyze financial information and prepare quarterly financial statements.
• Handle day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and preparation of biweekly payroll.
• Ensure all transactions relating to development projects are accounted for properly in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare requests for reimbursement relating to CHDO grants and ensure compliance with all requirements.
• Develop and document processes, accounting policies, and procedures to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Prepare the annual budget.
• Coordinate the engagement of the external auditor.
• Coordinate and manage annual external audits.
• Assist the external auditor in preparing the annual consolidated financial statements and tax return.
• Prepare construction draws.
• Develop procedures to ensure compliance with investor and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Complete COROS filings, including extensions and renewals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience in the construction industry.
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks.
• Public accounting experience is a plus.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• CPA preferred.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

The work schedule will generally be during normal business hours, with some evening and weekend work. Working conditions will generally be in an interior, climate-controlled environment, with some external work.
