Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit RN (Open Heart PCU) – West Virginia

Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 3x12 or 4x12 options available (36 or 48 hours per week), weekdays with every other weekend required, float responsibilities within scope

Highlights:

• 29-bed Progressive Care Unit specializing in post-operative open heart and cardiothoracic surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring, also accepts med/surg overflow
• 4:1 patient ratio with 36-hour guaranteed hours per week
• Cerner charting system in a Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital with 838 staffed beds
• Contract length flexible with 36 or 48-hour weekly options; open to accommodating blocked schedule requests
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, and social services
• Free parking provided for travelers; orientation held every other week on Thursdays with 16-hour orientation program

Requirements:

• Active West Virginia RN license or Compact State license required (pending licenses accepted for submission)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (must be American Heart Association)
• Chest tube insertion assistance, management, and removal experience required
• Central line experience required
• External/internal pacemaker experience required
• Wound vac experience required
• Critical drip experience with medications including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, and Argatroban
• Telemetry experience and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with adults and geriatric patient populations
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions reviewed case-by-case)
• Two manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years required
• Must reside 100 miles or more from the facility (75-99 miles considered case-by-case)
• Charge experience preferred; community hospital, LTAC, and trauma experience preferred
