SENIOR BUYER CONTRACT TO HIRE

Responsible for the procurement of specialized items and executing buying complex strategies in

accordance with agreed upon material buying plans at the optimum cost/quality relationship.

Analyzes market and industry conditions and implements and develops alternate suppliers

recommendations. Typically purchases large weldments from machine shops in addition to all

other items. Negotiates select contracts. Interacts with sales representatives and vendors. May

coach lower-level Buyers. This is a senior level buyer who is typically directly responsible to

purchase $10 to $25 million per year in raw materials/goods. Requires a Bachelors Degree and a

minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

Production & Purchasing Execution: Serve as a point of contact for production purchasing;

manage equipment production orders; analyze quotes, negotiate pricing and delivery terms,

and expedite materials to prevent disruptions; provide backup support for Buyer as needed.

Communicates product availability information to internal customers

Inventory & Materials Management: Develops/Maintains forecasting and demand planning

model for purchased & manufactured products and materials; Generate and Track purchase

orders. Maintain accurate open PO lines. Oversee inventory control including production

inventory, cycle counting, and scrap tracking; align purchasing with production demand and

inventory levels. Materials management using Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft D365

Supplier Management & Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and onboard new vendors; manage

supplier relationships, resolve issues, drive cost savings and sourcing initiatives; Performs

Make v Buy analysis and recommend actions based on results.

R&D & Cross-Functional Support: Support purchasing needs for R&D projects and

collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Finance

Process Improvement & Projects: Lead process improvements, standardize documentation,

and manage ad hoc projects that support operational efficiency

Reporting & Analytics: Develop dashboards and KPI reports on purchasing, inventory, and

supplier performance; conduct root cause analysis and provide data-driven

recommendations.

Analytical mindset with ability to interpret data and drive decisions

Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities

Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office tools

Advanced organizational skills are essential.

Job Requirements:

Bachelors degree in supply chain, Business, or related field required

Minimum 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience required

Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment required

Experience with inventory control, supplier negotiation, and production support required

APICS/ASCM CPIM, CSCP, or ISM certification preferred

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Travel 5%
