We are seeking a mid-to-senior level Technical Business Analyst with strong Market Risk, investment reporting, data analytics, and SQL experience to support ongoing initiatives within the Market Risk organization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of market risk concepts, including Value at Risk (VaR), risk limits, interest rates, and trading book concepts , combined with hands-on experience analyzing and reporting financial data.

This role will work closely with business users, subject matter experts, technology teams, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze data, identify trends and issues, and support reporting and data-related initiatives. Strong communication skills and the ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with business users, SMEs, and stakeholders to understand business and data requirements.
• Gather, analyze, validate, and document data requirements.
• Perform detailed data analysis across multiple sources to identify trends, patterns, discrepancies, and data-quality issues.
• Develop and execute complex SQL queries , including joins, aggregations, and analysis across multiple tables.
• Support Market Risk initiatives involving risk data, reporting, limits, and analytics.
• Perform Value at Risk (VaR) analysis and support related market risk reporting.
• Support investment reporting and data analytics initiatives.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance reports and dashboards using tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, or Power BI
• Clean, transform, and prepare data for reporting and analysis.
• Investigate and resolve data-related issues and discrepancies.
• Collaborate with IT and technology teams to troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate data-related projects.
• Translate business requirements into clear technical and data requirements.
• Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Provide ad-hoc data analysis and reporting support to business functions.
• Contribute to ongoing Market Risk technology and data initiatives.
• Support data quality, reporting accuracy, and continuous improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications

• Mid-to-senior level experience as a Technical Business Analyst, Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role
• Strong knowledge of Market Risk concepts and terminology.
• Understanding of risk limits, interest rates, and Value at Risk (VaR)
• Experience with investment reporting or financial reporting.
• Strong hands-on SQL skills.
• Ability to write and explain complex SQL queries involving:
• Joins
• Tables
• Aggregations
• Data filtering
• Data analysis
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with large datasets.
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working directly with business users, SMEs, technology teams, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical/data requirements.
• Experience identifying, investigating, and resolving data-quality issues.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced financial services environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Alteryx
• Experience with Tableau or Power BI
• Experience with Python for data analysis or automation.
• Experience working with Enterprise Market Risk / Finance systems
• Experience with financial services, banking, capital markets, or investment environments.
