General Superintendent – Commercial Flooring Operations

Location: Birmingham, AL | Field-Based / Approximately 60% Travel

Salary: $60,000-$100,000 annually, plus performance-based bonus potential

Employment Type: Full-Time

Project Scope: Commercial, Industrial, Government, and Federal

Travel is an essential function of this position. This role requires approximately 60% travel throughout the Southeast, including overnight stays. C3 Services provides lodging, per diem, and company transportation from its Leeds warehouse, with efforts made to limit extended assignments to approximately 10-14 days at a time.

The Opportunity

C3 Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced commercial construction superintendent or field supervisor to oversee commercial flooring operations across multiple projects.

We welcome candidates with backgrounds in commercial flooring, finish-trade supervision, or interior commercial renovations who have demonstrated experience coordinating flooring installations, managing crews, or overseeing flooring subcontractors.

You'll work alongside Project Managers, general contractors, and field teams to manage schedules, resolve installation challenges, and ensure quality workmanship.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Oversee daily field operations, staffing, and installation activities across multiple commercial projects.
• Lead, train, and coordinate foremen, installers, and subcontractors.
• Evaluate jobsite readiness, including substrate conditions, moisture concerns, and surface preparation.
• Manage schedules, labor productivity, materials, and project budgets.
• Resolve installation challenges, trade conflicts, and project delays.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and quality requirements.
• Maintain daily reports and communicate project updates with field and office teams.
• Mentor field technicians and develop future crew leaders.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in commercial flooring, commercial construction field supervision, finish trades, or related field operations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of interior commercial or related finish-trade installation practices, jobsite conditions, and quality standards.
• Experience supervising crews, coordinating subcontractors, and managing commercial project schedules.
• Ability to identify and resolve installation challenges, trade conflicts, and jobsite issues.
• Experience managing labor productivity, coordinating materials, and maintaining project documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, finish schedules, and project specifications.
• Strong communication, organizational, and reporting skills.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to travel approximately 60% and work flexible hours as project schedules require.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct commercial flooring installation or supervisory experience.
• Experience overseeing commercial flooring crews, installers, or subcontractors.
• Previous experience as a superintendent, foreman, field supervisor, or flooring project manager.
• Familiarity with commercial flooring systems, substrate preparation, moisture testing and mitigation, and specialized equipment such as grinders and shot blasters.
• Experience managing multiple commercial projects, renovations, or tenant improvements.
• Familiarity with project management software and digital field reporting.
• High School Diploma of GED

Safety & Certifications

Working knowledge of OSHA construction safety standards and jobsite safety procedures. OSHA 10-Hour and CPR certifications must be obtained within the first year if not already held.
