Medical Billing Specialist

The Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for coding and submitting medical claims for insurance billing. Under general supervision, this position assists with administrative functions such as drafting correspondence, organizing and maintaining electronic files, and providing information to the Center for Autism and Behavioral Education Research staff. The incumbent will report to the Center for Autism and Behavioral Education Research Director.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies - Knowledge of various administrative systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and UGA Financials (People Soft). Knowledge of and experience using electronic medical record systems, preferably for behavior analytic services. Knowledge of medical billing and coding procedures Knowledge of credentialing with insurance companies

Duties/Responsibilities - Responsible for coding and submitting medical claims correctly for billing. Submitting prior authorizations for behavior analytic services. Assisting with Accounts Receivable. Responsible for monitoring claim status and monthly insurance aging report, following up on delayed claims and denials. Responsible for communicating with business manager regarding insurance claim updates, and supporting faculty and staff with billing processes and procedures. Create invoices for patient charges
