Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Shift Type: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, every other weekend (Fri/Sat NOC, Sat/Sun days), holiday rotation every 3 major holidays

Hours per Week: 36

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to laboring mothers and newborns, ensuring a safe and positive birthing experience
• Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs, interpreting data to guide clinical decisions
• Assist with epidurals, deliveries, and emergency procedures in collaboration with anesthesia and OB/GYN teams
• Triage patients in OB triage, prioritizing care based on acuity
• Educate patients on lactation, postpartum recovery, and newborn care
• Coordinate with Stanford NICU nurses for deliveries involving high-risk infants
• Float to postpartum unit in rotation with permanent staff as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of ACOG guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios
• Proficient in fetal heart rate monitoring and interpretation
• Skilled in use of Cerner PowerChart Maternity and Fetal Links
• Ability to manage high-stress situations and emergent deliveries
• Team player comfortable with floating and cross-training

Requirements

• Current RN license in California
• At least 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
• ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certifications
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills
