Description Essential Functions, Roles, and Responsibilities Responsible for routine and non-routine hair care such as permanents and colors. Schedule shampoos/sets around the resident's bath day and per resident's request. Documents refusal of service of and reason for refusal. Documents non-routine hair, such as permanents and colors. Submit the documentation to the Business Office at the end of each month. Responsible for notifying and receiving approval from family/POA for any non-routine hair care services such as perms and colors unless prior arrangements have been made. If prior arrangements have been made with family to accept these services on a quarterly basis or when needed, a written record of the date, resident's family member/POA agreement should be kept on file. Monitors residents' skin for reactions from chemicals and solutions used in hair care. Cleans Beauty Shop daily per cosmetology guidelines. Properly disinfects curlers, combs, brushes, utensils and counter per cosmetology guidelines. Transports resident to and from Beauty Shop. Must request assistance from certified or licensed nursing personnel for transfer assistance as needed. Requirements Licensed by ND State Board of Cosmetology. Must possess a sincere desire to serve the elderly. Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally distraught residents within the facility and do so with patience and tact. Knife River Care Center
