Systems Engineer – Defense & AerospaceWork Arrangement: Hybrid – Must be able to report to a designated company hub as needed.Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to support the design, development, integration, testing, and lifecycle management of complex systems within the defense and aerospace industry. This position will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop and integrate advanced technologies while ensuring system performance, reliability, and compliance with technical requirements.The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in systems engineering principles, experience with computer integration and testing, and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges in a collaborative engineering environment.Key ResponsibilitiesSystems Design & DevelopmentCollaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to design and develop system architectures, subsystems, and components for aerospace and defense applications.Analyze system requirements, conduct feasibility studies, and develop technical design specifications.Support the development and implementation of innovative engineering solutions.Systems Integration & TestingCoordinate and execute the integration of hardware, software, and subsystem components to ensure functionality and interoperability.Perform computer integration and testing activities to validate system performance.Troubleshoot integration issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.Develop and execute test procedures to verify system functionality and performance.Requirements ManagementDefine, document, analyze, and manage system requirements throughout the development lifecycle.Translate stakeholder needs into technical requirements and specifications.Maintain requirements traceability and ensure alignment between system design, implementation, and testing.Verification & ValidationPlan and execute system verification and validation activities to ensure compliance with technical and performance requirements.Develop test plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria.Analyze test results, document findings, and recommend system improvements.Risk Management & System ReliabilityIdentify and assess technical risks associated with system design, integration, and operation.Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to enhance system safety, reliability, and performance.Support system troubleshooting, performance evaluations, and corrective action planning.Technical Documentation & Lifecycle SupportPrepare and maintain system specifications, design documentation, test plans, technical reports, and user documentation.Support configuration management, system upgrades, maintenance planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.Ensure engineering activities and documentation comply with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with engineering teams, project managers, technical stakeholders, and customers to support project objectives.Participate in technical reviews, engineering discussions, and project status meetings.Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences.Support engineering project execution within established schedules and budgets.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices.Experience with computer integration and testing, including hardware and software integration activities.Knowledge of system requirements development, management, verification, and validation.Familiarity with aerospace and defense industry standards, regulations, and technical specifications.Understanding of relevant technologies, including avionics, sensors, communication systems, and software integration.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical challenges.Experience preparing technical documentation, specifications, and test procedures.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.Understanding of engineering project management principles, including scheduling, resource coordination, and technical deliverables.Familiarity with systems engineering tools used for requirements management, modeling, simulation, and configuration management.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Systems Engineering or a related engineering discipline.Experience supporting aerospace or defense system development and integration programs.Experience with Bash scripting.Experience with one or more of the following engineering tools:IBM DOORSJamaSysMLMATLABSimulinkCameo Systems ModelerExperience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies.Relevant engineering certifications or advanced technical training.Security RequirementsDepending on project requirements, candidates may be required to hold or obtain an appropriate security clearance.Must be able to comply with applicable
