Psychiatric RN

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Psych Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care on the Geropsychiatric Unit, focusing on assessing, monitoring, and treating patients with psychiatric needs. The RN collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans, administers medications and treatments, facilitates therapeutic activities, and ensures accurate documentation. This role requires strong communication, clinical skills, and the ability to support patients' mental and physical health in a dynamic care environment. Responsibilities:

• Assess, monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patient conditions
• Maintain accurate patient reports and medical histories
• Perform mental and physical assessments
• Administer medication and treatments as prescribed
• Assist patients with daily living activities
• Manage therapeutic milieu activities including daily groups, education, and 1:1 patient interactions
• Collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary team members, and external health and social agencies
• Develop and complete individualized treatment plans upon admission and ongoing
• Plan, implement, and coordinate nursing care activities
• Provide discharge planning and ensure timely, accurate documentation including admission paperwork, assessments, progress notes, and discharge paperwork
• Adhere to therapeutic standards and quality improvement initiatives

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Valid Registered Nurse license in the State of New Hampshire
• BLS certification
• Associate degree or diploma from a 3-year nursing program (Bachelor's degree preferred)
• At least 1 year of previous nursing experience preferred
• Proficiency in medical terminology
• Excellent mathematical, analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
• Experience in psychiatric or behavioral health nursing
• Familiarity with Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and data management

Special Considerations:

• Work within a geropsychiatric unit requiring sensitivity to mental health needs
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary team and external agencies
• Adherence to therapeutic and regulatory standards
• Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic clinical environment

• Day shifts
• Shift assignments determined by unit needs and staffing requirements
