Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Location

Lufkin, TX | Acute Care / Emergency Department

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (self-scheduling options including 9–9, 11–11, 1–1, and 3–3) | Onsite | Every other weekend and every other holiday required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 24-bed Emergency Department managing approximately 80–90 patients per day, including trauma, stroke, sepsis, CHF, and cardiac cases
• Maintain a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, caring for both ED patients and intermixed ER holds
• Perform or assist with triage on an occasional basis within a designated triage area
• Independently interpret ECG rhythms — no monitor technicians are on unit
• Collaborate with ED physicians, mid-level providers, charge nurses, house supervisors, CNAs, paramedics, and patient sitters as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Float to other units as qualified when operationally needed; no call or standby requirement

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in the state of Texas (or compact eligibility)
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC, and PALS or ENPC
• Proficiency with ECG rhythm interpretation (independent strip reading required)
• Experience with or ability to quickly learn Paragon EMR
• Candidates must not have been employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health within the past year

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience managing high-acuity patients including trauma, stroke, and cardiac presentations
• Familiarity with fast-track emergency department workflows
• Experience with respiratory equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen (respiratory therapy team manages treatments and ABGs)
