Dispatcher - Central Communications Officer - Nights

Responsibilities include staffing an established Protective Services dispatch center with overall auspices of telephone and radio communication, camera and alarm monitoring, handling 155 calls as well as Computerized Aided Dispatch (CAD) information entries. Controls the communications and access control network(s) in Protective Services Headquarters. Performs varied responsibilities such as triaging communications, written documentation, data entry incident tracking, building access for numerous access points simultaneously, operating lost and found system, and patient valuables system. Monitors cameras to support crime prevention via IP video. Monitors alarm annunciation systems. Operates radio dispatch and department telephone systems, answering 155 emergency calls and dispatching in coordination with Call Center Operators. Acts as the primary customer contact for routine and emergency calls. Monitors fire alarm systems. All communication is to be conducted politely and courteously at all times. EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran Responsibilities Receive and dispatch security-related calls: Receives communication for any security assistance requests, assesses severity, and dispatches officers promptly to ensure appropriate response. Documentation: Prepares and documents incident and activity information using the appropriate IT infrastructure. Access Control Monitoring: Monitors all access points with surveillance and card reader systems, ensuring safety and supporting investigations. System Logging: Logs into security systems, including Software House C*Cure9000, for data entry and statistical analysis. Operational Capabilities: Demonstrates knowledge of emergency codes and response plans, contributing to efficient department operation. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of FTO program; preferred Statewide Emergency Telecommunications certification. Experience: At least one year in security, law enforcement, fire, EMS, or dispatch roles involving clerical duties, heavy phone/radio use, and decision-making; basic computer skills; familiarity with security systems is a plus but training will be provided. Licensure: Preferably, a Connecticut Guard Card; must meet CT Department of Public Safety licensing requirements upon hire. Skills: Accurate record-keeping, diplomatic communication, monitoring alarms and cameras, operating digital radios, computer literacy, decision-making under stress, understanding hospital operations, and ability to sit for long periods. #J-18808-Ljbffr Yale New Haven Health
