Staff Accountant IIThe Staff Accountant II plays a key role in supporting the organization's accounting operations by performing account reconciliations, analyzing balance sheet activity, preparing financial reports, and participating in month-end and year-end close processes. This position also assists with audits, supports internal reporting, and provides backup coverage for various accounting functions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and committed to continuous process improvement. The Staff Accountant II is expected to work independently on assigned accounting processes, identify and resolve accounting issues, and provide recommendations to improve financial accuracy and efficiency.Position Responsibilities:Perform timely and accurate more complex month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activitiesServe as a resource for less experienced team members and assist with training on accounting processesPrepare and post recurring journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP.Monitor and analyze general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliancePrepare and analyze financial reports and account reconciliations across multiple entitiesCompile documentation and provide support for internal and external auditsReconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies as neededReview accounts for unusual trends, fluctuations, or variances and communicate findings to management.Handle more complex manual transactions including check-by-phone payments, manual EDI entries, incoming wires, NSF items, and bank depositsHelp lead the collaboration with the collections and cash application teams to ensure proper application of customer paymentsResearch and resolve more complex unapplied or missing paymentsIdentify process improvement opportunities and help implement solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracyAssist with ad hoc reporting, special projects, and process improvement initiativesAssist with system implementations, ERP enhancements, and testing activities as needed.Provide backup support for other roles within the accounting department as neededPosition Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance3-5 years of relevant accounting experienceProficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applicationsExperience with SAP or other ERP systemsStrong understanding of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principlesHigh level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skillsStrong problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical mindsetExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated professionalism, business acumen, and integrityAbility to adapt in a fast-paced and evolving environmentThe Company:Since 1911, State Industrial Products has helped customers "Care for Work Environments"®.
