The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Information Technology Division (ITD) is seeking a highly organized and detail‑oriented PMO Support Specialist to enhance project governance, support project managers, and strengthen agency-wide project delivery practices. This role provides direct support to the PMO through documentation management, training coordination, risk oversight, and recurring reporting across Commonwealth-level and agency IT projects.

Responsibilities

\n

The PMO Support Specialist will:

\n

• Update, maintain, and publish PMO documentation that supports IT project managers and ITD staff.

\n

• Manage and maintain SharePoint Online document libraries to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and proper governance.

\n

• Develop, coordinate, and deliver training (in-person and virtual) for agency IT project managers and supporting staff, including creation of training materials and user documentation.

\n

• Serve as a risk manager for Commonwealth-level IT projects, providing guidance on risk identification, mitigation planning, and escalation procedures.

\n

• Support recurring cadenced reporting using Excel and Power BI, ensuring data accuracy and meaningful insights.

\n

• Provide oversight and guidance to projects in the Planning phase to ensure readiness for execution.

\n

• Ensure projects in execution follow established governance structures, including meeting cadence, reporting, metrics tracking, risk and issue management, and quality assurance.

\n

• Review project plans to ensure inclusion of required components such as tasks, schedules, risk identification, resource allocation, checkpoints, and status reporting.

\n

\n

QUALIFICATIONS

\n

• The candidate should have 15 years of overall IT experience. Experience with technology infrastructure is preferred. Application Development experience is a plus.

\n

• The candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of experience.

\n

• The candidate should be proficient in MS Office tools such as Microsoft Project, Visio, and excel.

\n

• The candidate should possess training and documentation experience.

\n

• PMP or ACP Certification through PMI or Qualified under Commonwealth of Virginia

\n

Qualification Standards for IT Project Managers.

\n

• Experience with VITA’s Commonwealth Technology Portfolio (CTP) system and ECOS process is strongly preferred.

\n

• Experience with the core Commonwealth IT procurement processes (RFP, VITA

\n

Statewide Contract, and CAI SOW) is preferred.

• Prior VDOT PM experience is a benefit.
