Extra Help/Police OfficerThe Extra Help/Police Officer is responsible for the enforcement of traffic, criminal laws and parking regulations. This position is governed by law enforcement standards, state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.QualificationsRequired Education and experience:The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma;Must possess a valid drivers license;Must be certified by the Arkansas Law Enforcement Certification Training in accordance with ACA 12-9-106, an approved law enforcement training academy.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Patrol assigned areas to detect and prevent crimes, enforce traffic laws, recognize parking violations, issue traffic citations, and identify safety hazards and violators;Perform security checks of campus buildings;Conduct investigations of crimes, accidents, and reports incidents committed on campus;Monitor security and fire panel for security and fire detection, assist with checking the alarm systems and emergency power supply, and inspect and maintain fire extinguishers;Arrest violators write incident reports, and testify in court, as required;Direct traffic during periods of high density to facilitate smooth flow;Respond to alarm, call for assistance, check for locked or unlocked buildings and offices, as necessary, and assist stranded motorists and others in need of assistance;Performs other duties as assigned.Must maintain ACIC (Arkansas Crime Information Center) class one certification.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of general law enforcement methods and techniques;Ability to direct traffic and to maintain order;Ability to prepare reports of incidents and accidents;Ability to communicate orally and in writing;Ability to operate motor vehicles used in patrol duties.Additional Information:Pre-employment Screening Requirements: Physical, Criminal Background Check, Motor Vehicle Reports Check, Sex Offender Registry, and Substance Abuse TestingSalary Information: $15.00 an hourRequired Documents to Apply: ResumeOptional Documents:Special Instructions to Applicants:Recruitment Contact Information: Andrea Robinson Police Services Manager 501-916-5308All application materials must be uploaded to the University of Arkansas System Career Site do not send to listed recruitment contact.Pre-employment Screening Requirements:The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is committed to providing a safe campus community.
