Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 29-bed acute care Medical Surgical unit managing a wide range of medical diagnoses including GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, DVT, pulmonary embolism, and comfort measures, among others.
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 5–6:1 on night shift, delivering safe and effective care across private and semi-private room settings.
• Titrate Heparin drips per unit protocol and manage patients with oxygen requirements up to 6L NC, as well as stable BiPAP/CPAP.
• Perform IV starts and utilize available unit resources when needed; coordinate with inpatient phlebotomy team for blood draws.
• Monitor telemetry as needed, with remote monitoring support provided by a house-wide telemetry department; unit equipment is primarily Philips.
• Float to other Medical Surgical-like units as needed; no ICU or chemotherapy patient assignments.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) licensure, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work night shift 12-hour schedules, including every other weekend (Friday/Saturday) and rotating holidays.
• Compliance with a drug-free workplace policy, including a negative drug screen for all panels.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in an acute care Medical Surgical setting with exposure to a broad range of medical diagnoses.
• Familiarity with Heparin drip titration and telemetry monitoring in an inpatient environment.
• Experience working with elderly patient populations and post-procedure patients returning from surgery.
