Docketing Assistant/Specialist - Litigation

Location: San Diego, CA or Del Mar Heights, CA

Salary Pay Range and Other Compensation: $65,000-$85,000 annually depending on experience. If your pay expectation is outside of this range, we still encourage you to apply. Bonus opportunities are available based on individual and firm performance.

Eastridge Workforce Solutions is partnering with a respected law firm in its search for a Docketing Assistant/Specialist - Litigation. This role provides critical litigation support through accurate court docketing and calendaring across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced legal environment, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, and possesses strong knowledge of court rules and litigation procedures.

We are open to candidates at either the Assistant or Specialist level based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze docketing requests and associated legal documents to calculate critical deadlines and filing dates
• Maintain accurate litigation calendars for State, Federal, and appellate courts across multiple jurisdictions
• Research deadlines and procedural requirements as needed to supplement automated calculations
• Update existing docket entries and conduct quality control reviews to ensure accuracy
• Generate and distribute docket reports and customized calendaring reports upon request
• Proofread and verify calendar entries and deadlines
• Partner with litigation leadership to communicate docketing policies and procedures to attorneys and staff
• Monitor updates to court rules and procedures and communicate changes as appropriate
• Manage assigned docketing inboxes and coordinate with legal teams regarding calendaring needs
• Provide ongoing support and guidance to attorneys and staff on docketing procedures and best practices
• Maintain current knowledge of Federal, State, and local rules of civil procedure

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of litigation processes, pleadings, discovery, and court procedures
• Experience calculating deadlines for State, Federal, and appellate courts
• Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to manage competing priorities and high-volume workloads while meeting deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated sense of urgency and responsiveness in a professional services environment
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting
• Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

Experience Level

Specialist Level:

• 2–3 years of litigation docketing experience in a law firm environment preferred

Assistant Level:

• 1–2 years of experience in docketing, calendaring, legal support, or related administrative experience preferred

Technical Skills

• Experience with litigation docketing and calendaring systems such as CompuLaw Vision or Milana preferred
• Familiarity with PACER and other court research tools
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
