You'll be the heart of our coffee experience, crafting consistently excellent drinks, creating genuine moments of connection with guests, and bringing the energy and warmth that defines Pret Buzz. This is more than a barista role: you'll be a coach and standard-setter for your team, helping train and develop fellow team members on Pret's Barista Prepared Drinks program. If you love great coffee, fast-paced environments, and making people's days a little better, we'd love to meet you.Key Responsibilities:To coach and train Team Member Star and Baristas-in-training on Barista Prepared Drinks and standardsDeliver drinks within the 60-second service standard, communicating proactively when delays occurTo liaise with management to ensure to ensure all Barista Prepared Drinks training is planned and carried out as appropriateTo carry out coffee team briefs and attend any relevant meetings and courses relating to Barista Prepared Drinks when appropriateTo ensure all hot drinks training material is available and up to dateTo follow Pret's dress code and be immaculately presented, wearing the correct uniform at all timesTo positively engage with guests and the team with eye contact and a smileTo serve Barista Prepared Drinks to the 60 seconds standards, communicating to customers and the team when this is not possibleTo 'wow' customers with latte artTo make all Barista Prepared Drinks to Pret standardsRole model coffee knowledge and to maintain an understanding about Pret's Barista Prepared Drinks and standardsTo maintain the Barista Prepared Drinks equipment, Barista box and daily & weekly checks to Pret standardsTo view the Barista Prepared Drinks counter through a customer's eyes and clean as you goTo carry out log checks, thermometer calibration and dribble tests in line with Pret standardsTo manage the waste levels of Barista Prepared Drinks ingredientsTo action any issues relating to stock variances and waste for Barista Prepared Drinks as required by your ManagerSupport with keeping shelves restocked and looking picture perfect throughout the dayTo have a weekly sales target and share this with the teamTo know your shop Barista Prepared Drinks sales versus total sales and the mixTo recognize regular customers with appropriate volume of drinks via Joy of PretRequired Experience:Barista: 1 year (Required)Proficiency in espresso based drinksA team-oriented approach, you respect and support the restaurant's successExcellent communication skillsA desire to create exceptional employee & guest experiencesReliability and punctualityNYC Food Handlers Card (Preferred)Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 50 pounds; bend, reach overhead, squat, kneel, and go up and down stairs as needed; safely maneuver through tight or compact spaces; operate restaurant equipment and handle tools such as tongs, pots, and pans with dexterity; work in environments ranging from hot to cold, including near open flames and occasional outdoor conditions; maintain close, distance, and peripheral vision; communicate continuously with team members; and work in a constant state of alertness while maintaining safe operationsThe ability to perform other physical requirements such as seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours.
