MRI Technologist

The MRI Technologist, under general supervision, performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures on patients as requested by a physician or licensed provider for diagnosis. Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and protocols. Utilizes effective communication techniques with patients to identify service requirements and establish rapport. Instructs and communicates with patients and their families regarding the test to be performed and assesses their ability to tolerate the exam. Prepares patient and area for the procedure by properly positioning the patient and adjusting equipment controls. Adheres to safety requirements, infection control, drug, and radiation policies when performing procedures. Maintains equipment and work areas to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment and reports any issues. Ensures individuals are safe to enter the department by properly screening them according to policies and procedures. Obtains, verifies, and maintains all relevant documentation, including patient history and consent forms. Maintains medical imaging records according to departmental policies and standards. Demonstrates the ability to perform high-quality MRI procedures according to exam protocols in a timely manner. Explains the procedure to patients to help put them at ease. Provides services in a timely, accurate, and cost-efficient manner, complying with established regulatory standards. Maintains a calm and helpful attitude even during stressful situations and takes reasonable steps to resolve issues. Able to effectively administer first aid and utilize emergency equipment if needed. Ensures customer satisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service, and remaining professional. Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge and skills appropriate for all age groups in the department. Serves as a preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives. Available to take call if required.
