Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 weeks, with possible extension) | Nights, 3x12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-volume Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit managing complex medicine, orthopedic overflow, and long-term patients at a 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio
• Monitor patients via on-unit telemetry and respond utilizing Rapid Response and Code teams as needed
• Manage and care for central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, surgical drains, feeding tubes, and wound care including wound vac therapy
• Administer blood products and manage Heparin protocols, tracheostomy care, and various oxygen delivery systems including High Flow Nasal Cannula
• Serve in a charge nurse capacity as required and float to other units as needed
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC electronic health records

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State RN license – must be in hand at time of submission, no exceptions
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Medical Surgical / Telemetry nursing
• Experience managing a patient ratio of 1:6 or comparable
• Charge nurse experience required
• Active BLS and NIHSS certifications required – valid NIHSS must be included at time of submission
• Proficiency with EPIC charting – hard requirement

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with pacemaker management (temporary and permanent), phlebotomy, and isolation precautions
• Background in orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement patient care
• Familiarity with tracheostomy management and advanced respiratory support modalities
