Be one of the first to apply - offer rates tend to be higher at this stage Description American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Stepdown Neuro unit position requiring 2 years of experience and telemetry proficiency at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital. Details Stepdown Neuro unit within a Magnet, teaching, Level 1 Trauma hospital Patient population includes Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Epilepsy cases such as TBI, craniotomy, craniectomy, aneurysm clipping/coiling, spinal cord injury, stroke, seizure, and change in mental status Patient ratio of 1:5 Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00-19:30 Every other weekend required with scheduling flexibility No on-call responsibilities Floating within scope required, with travelers prioritized to float first Uses Epic charting system Requirements Active WA or compact RN license required Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS Must pass a telemetry/dysrhythmia interpretation and management competency exam Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Prior travel experience preferred; first-time travelers considered only with strong neuro experience Required skills: IV start, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care and management Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required Additional Information Provide nursing care to neurosurgical, neurological, and epilepsy patients including those with TBI, craniotomy, spinal cord injury, and stroke Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions Holiday coverage required: may request 1 of 3 major holidays off but must work 2 holidays (eve/day) RTO limited to no more than 6 days, with no RTO permitted during the first 2 weeks or orientation week Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction Prior UW/Harborview staff must have 18 months separation before returning as a traveler First-time travelers considered only if they have strong neuro experience These details are based on information provided by the facility and may include inaccuracies or be subject to updates.
