Job Opportunity

Position Overview

This position is responsible for providing comprehensive occupational therapy services to outpatient populations, including assessment, treatment, and care. The role involves engaging in educational instruction with patients and their families, ensuring a personalized approach to therapy that addresses the individual developmental and treatment needs of each patient.

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain thorough patient medical and social histories, assessing current status information.
• Evaluate patients as directed by the referring physician and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer therapeutic treatments based on physical agents, biomechanical and neurophysiological principles, and assistive devices.
• Monitor and reassess patients' status, adjusting treatment programs as necessary.
• Document all relevant patient information in electronic medical records and provide education on treatment plans and procedures.
• Complete daily billing procedures for services rendered.
• Utilize techniques such as heat, electricity, water, massage, and exercise in treatment.
• Prepare reports including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• Supervise all supporting staff involved in occupational therapy patient care.
• Efficiently organize the daily workload and manage time for self and support staff.
• Ensure the safety and effectiveness of patient care equipment and work environments, reporting deficiencies promptly.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association preferred.
• Advanced degree or additional training is preferred.

Licensure

• Active or eligible for Washington State Occupational Therapist license.

Experience

• One year of outpatient care experience preferred.
• Experience in hand therapy and splinting is preferred.
• Ability to evaluate and provide care across the age continuum from young patients to geriatric populations.

Physical Requirements

• Occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, crouching, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
• Considerable physical activity is required, including lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
• Manual dexterity, mobility, and good reading eyesight are necessary.
• Visual acuity is required to observe patient assessment data and utilize manual/automated documentation tools.
• Keen mental faculties for assessment and decision-making in patient management are essential.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for accurate information exchange with healthcare professionals, patients, and families.

Additional Notes

Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (HCP) certification is required to be completed within three months of hire.
