Immediate openings for Substitute Custodians


At Helena Public Schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a Substitute Custodian you contribute to this mission by filling in for sick and vacation leave absences and assisting with keeping the District's buildings in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interuptions to the educational program. You will work as part of a team of 70+ serving 8,000 students over 17 campuses across Helena. These positions have flexible work days and work hours. We are willing to accomodate interested individuals by offering 4, 6 or 8 hour shifts.



Some of what you will do:

• Assists in maintaining seasonal grounds work (snow) etc.
• Cleans and preserves designated spaces, equipment etc. in the building.
• Performs ongoing preventative maintenance and minor repair on plumbing, custodial equipment, building structure and hardware.
• Performs light maintenance as needed.
• Assists the visiting public utilizing school facilities with directions within the building and in obtaining and setting up needed equipment and/or materials.
• Maintains building and grounds security by closing the building each school day and during special events,

To become part of this dedicated team, you need:

• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Up to three (3) months of related experience and/or training;
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District.

Essential functions of the position include the ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning suppllies, pails and unloading trucks. Occasionaly the empoyee will lift and/or move up to 1000 pounds such as bulk furniture with or without a reasonable accommodation.



Salary is $14.15 per hour. Successful applicants may be employed up to 40 hours per week.
