SUMMARY: The Bilingual Collections Specialist helps locate delinquent customer accounts and makes arrangements for payment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identify past due accounts and initiate customer communication to bring account into current status.

Field requests from customers related to balance, invoices, agreements terms, payment plans and any other general matters.

Perform skip tracing and documentation review as needed to establish communication with customers.

Negotiate payment plans and other arrangements with customers in accordance with department guidelines.

• Locate delinquent customer accounts through various means, e.g. skip-tracing, phone contact, written correspondence, and make arrangements for payment.
• Ensure the organizations collection strategies are carried out in an effective manner that results in quality service and the most profitable and efficient collection, or validation of information, thus improving future performance of Dakotas portfolio.
• Prepare all collection correspondence including default letters as defined by department procedures.
• Recommend work out arrangements on delinquent accounts as defined by department procedures.
• Gather initial information for the Credit Department to make an informed decision regarding Lease Transfers, Modifications or Extensions on past due accounts.
• Assist with Customer Service issues as they relate to the collection of the account.
• Partner with management to develop customer service and professional skills.
• Notify management of any recognized potential risks.
• Follow up with staff as needed regarding disputed Personal Property Tax and other fees.
• Assist accounting as needed with cash application identification.
• Prepare monthly delinquency and status reports.
• Complete other Collection related functions as directed by the Collections Supervisor.
• Participate in performance management as accountability is achieved through regular one-on-ones and objective goal setting that measures quantity and quality with set timelines for completion.

Understanding of terms of contracts and ability to communicate those terms to customers.

Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

One to two years of related experience and/or training.

Computer skills required: MS Office

Ability to work on-site 5 days a week from 8:30am to 5:30pm
