Referrals Specialist

The Referrals Specialist plays a key role in supporting Sidekick's school-based services by managing and processing client referrals from intake through completion. This position ensures all orders are handled accurately, TennCare verifications are completed and distributed in a timely manner, and documentation meets all compliance standards.

In addition, this role will support front-desk coverage, as needed. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organization, multitasking, and working in a fast-paced environment with a mission-driven team.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor referral progress and follow up when needed.
• Receive, review, and process physician orders and patient documentation.
• Ensure all documents meet state, insurance, and internal compliance standards.
• Verify documents are properly labeled, complete, and assigned to the correct patient.
• Process school orders for TennCare and School Pay clients.
• Complete insurance verifications for TennCare and commercial plans.
• Follow up on Problem Alerts, Failed Documents, and Stopped Orders.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve documentation or verification needs promptly.
• Identify opportunities to improve referral workflows and efficiency
• Assist with front-desk coverage, as needed

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in administrative healthcare operations preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively and switch between tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn and navigate electronic health record (EHR) systems.
