DeLeon & Stang, CPAs & Advisors, is seeking an experienced In-Charge/Senior Auditor with 3+ years public accounting auditing experience to join our Audit/Assurance team. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who is ready to start taking ownership of client engagements, mentor staff, and continue developing toward future leadership opportunities within the firm.

The individual will work under the guidance of experienced professionals on multiple audit engagements, including not-for-profits, and commercial entities, to deliver quality service for our clients. Ability to analyze problems, implement solutions, establish and maintain relationships, understand performance expectations and plans, organize and work efficiently. This position offers significant professional growth opportunities and a clear path toward future advancement within the firm.

This position is based out of our Frederick MD office, with hybrid work flexibility available.

Key Responsibilities: 
•    Apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare accurate workpapers for accounting and auditing engagements under the direct supervision of a partner, manager, or supervisor as assigned
•    Direct client communication; scheduling, responding to client inquiries, presentations to Boards/Management 
•    Documenting accounting systems and internal controls and identifying weaknesses
•    Clearing open review notes and items effectively and efficiently
•    Preparation of financial statements and management letters
•    Performing technical reviews of low risk areas
•    Adhering to budgets; Reviewing prior year workpapers and memos, and budgeting for assigned areas prior to the start of those areas
•    Follows the progress of engagements and helps to identify and research accounting and auditing issues as assigned

Leadership & Professional Development: 
•    Assist leadership in mentoring and developing staff auditors through coaching, training, and day-to-day guidance.
•    Assist with onboarding and training of new team members 
•    Demonstrate increasing leadership responsibility and readiness for future advancement opportunities.
•    Participate in firm initiatives, recruiting activities, networking events, and business development efforts.
•    Building and maintaining strong client and community relationships.
•    Maintain technical expertise through continuing education and professional development. 

Qualifications: 
•    3+ years of public accounting audit experience
•    Not-for-profit experience a plus
•    Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field 
•    Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements and competing deadlines.
•    Strong client service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
•    Experience mentoring or supervising staff preferred.
•    Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
•    Knowledge of GAAP and GAAS
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
•    CPA license or active pursuit of the CPA preferred.
