Specimen Technician

Job Overview Requirement/Must Have: HS diploma or equivalent. Basic understanding of computers with a preferred knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing. No experience required but previous laboratory experience preferred. Medical background preferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory. Previous hospital laboratory experience is a plus but not required. Previous experience in a production environment preferred. Responsibilities: Perform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department. Conduct data entry tasks with a required speed of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes/hour. Handle A-station, presort, pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory. Engage in imaging/microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting. Maintain compliance with safety and quality standards. Communicate effectively with all levels of staff. Adhere to core values, safety and compliance policies and procedures. Keep work area neat and clean. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills that foster a positive environment. Exhibit flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
