SHOP WELDER

Shop WelderWage/Hour Status: NonexemptReports To: Grounds ForemanPay Grade: 8Dept./ School: FacilitiesDays: 247Primary Purpose: The goal of the shop welder is to ensure timely, accurate and cost-effective completion of jobs and projects as assigned by the ground's foreman. Must maintain all shop tools and equipment, as well as the maintenance of the welding truck, tools and equipment. Maintains district maintenance white fleet.Qualifications:High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalentHave a valid Texas drivers licenseSpecial Knowledge/Skills:General knowledge of weldingMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Able to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair company trucks.Learn to estimate materials, order and obtain material as required, and inform supervisor of needs and requirements to complete each job.Maintain accountability of tools, equipment, and supplies as assigned.Learn to identify and resolve various repair problems to ensure proper job completion.Maintain accurate records for proper completion of work orders (such as labor and material costs).Maintain and demonstrate an attitude of quality service, and teamwork, and good public relations and communications with co-workers, supervisors, and district employees at the various facility sites.Functions within the polices and administrative procedures of the Ector County Independent School District.Be available for emergency call outs on evenings, weekends, and holidays.Learn to read and interpret technical materials and specifications, including but not limited to construction documents, engineering reports and submittal dataAbility to communicate with a varied work force both professional and skilled laborAbility to maintain good public relations and communications with co- workers, supervisors, and district officials as part of a team.Performs all other tasks and duties as assignedPhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Reasonable accommodations will be made if necessaryWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, move throughout the room and/or facilitycommunicate verbally and electronicallyuse hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl, climb, balance, and drive; Occasionally required to sit.Regularly required to lift or exert force of up to 100 pounds.
