The Wound Registered Nurse manages and directs wound care needs of patients. The goal of the Wound Nurse is to facilitate healing for present on admission wounds.

Graduate of a professional school of nursing; BSN preferred

Current licensure by Tennessee board of nursing or other compact board of nursing

Demonstrated experience with each of the required areas of expertise in section III

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Current BLS provider certification

General Essential Functions:

• Develops, revises and implements ostomy and wound policies and procedures (evidence based practice)
• Develops, revises and implements ostomy and wound order sets (evidence based practice)
• Consults and develops plans of care (per nursing process and scope) for patients with ostomies and wounds (evidence based practice)
• Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served
• Demonstrates ability to perform technical skills and procedures
• Documents all required components of patient care
• Facilitates and supports ongoing ostomy and wound care education for staff members
• Collects, analyzes and reports essential information related to wound prevalence, wound incidence and departmental operations to appropriate bodies
• Leads and/or participates on performance improvement teams
• Acts as liaison between Centennial Medical Center and internal/external customers
• Supports the facility's Standards of Performance and ICARE values
