Press Operator -Running Small Presses - Experience Preferred

Location: St. Louis, MO Schedule: Full-Time 7:00am - 3:30pm Essential Functions Read job tickets. Set up printing presses based on job specifications, including loading paper, adjusting ink levels, and installing printing plates. Calibrate press settings for registration, color balance, ink distribution, and tension. Operate various types of presses (2 color, 4 color). Monitor the press during runs to ensure consistent quality and identify any issues such as misalignment, smudges, or mechanical malfunctions. Inspect printed materials for defects and ensure they meet or exceed quality and customer standards. Document and report production metrics and quality checks. Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning rollers, replacing parts, and lubricating moving components. Troubleshoot mechanical and printing issues and coordinate with maintenance staff as needed. Maintain inventory or printing supplies and ensure that printing materials are ordered in a timely manner to avoid delays. Follow all safety guidelines and operational procedures to ensure a safe work environment. Maintain clean and organized work areas in compliance with company and regulatory standards. Additional Responsibilities Handle special projects and other duties as assigned by management. Operate envelope printing and bindery equipment as needed. Promote a clean and safe work area. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills to operate and troubleshoot equipment effectively. Attention to detail and a keen eye for quality to ensure accurate and flawless finished products. Time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to read and interpret work orders, job tickets. Familiarity with prepress and postpress processes. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting to changes in production requirements and schedules. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy paper rolls or ink containers (up to 50 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks. Basic mathematical skills to perform calculations, measurements, and adjustments required for bindery operations. Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with production teams, follow instructions, and provide feedback. Physical stamina and dexterity to stand, lift, and maneuver heavy materials or equipment for extended periods. Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment and prevent accidents.
