Behavioral Health Clinician I/II

Behavioral Health Clinician Assignments
Adults:
- Psychotherapy and clinical case management with the adult justice involved population
- Collaborate with probation and other service providers using a holistic approach to avoid recidivism
- Linkage to outpatient Psychiatry to help promote overall wellbeing
Diversion:
- Assessing individuals for participation in a Department of State Hospital Felony and Misdemeanor Diversion program for individuals deemed incompetent to stand trial
- Work with a multidisciplinary team to provide and coordinate care for participants
- Psychotherapy and clinical case management with program participants
- Provide office and field-based services
- This position is eligible for an incentive payment of up to $10,000 as follows:
- $3,000 payment upon successful completion of the probationary period; and,
- $7,000 one year following the first payment, while remaining in the eligible assignment.
Comprehensive Community Treatment (CCT), Same Day Services (SDS)/ACCESS:
- Therapy
- Crisis Assessment
- Treatment Planning
Crisis Services:
- Performs detailed patient record documentation and maintains caseload records.
- Preparing intake and discharge summaries, progress notes, detailed assessments and documentation of progress notes, maintaining accurate patient records in the electronic medical record system and physical chart in compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Conducting crisis and biopsychosocial assessments with patients and making accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
- Monitoring the timely initiation, review and completion of master treatment plans for each assigned patient and addressing any deficiencies.
- Evaluating patients for voluntary and involuntary assessments and treatment; signs legal holds for clients requiring hospitalization.
- Contributing to discharge planning and assisting Behavioral Health staff with the execution of aftercare plans.
Mobile Intervention and Services Team (MIST): The multidisciplinary team assists individuals in gaining access to effective outpatient and crisis services in the least restrictive environment as possible, including individuals in a pre-crisis state and those being discharged from inpatient care. The field-based team engages in proactive case management, peer support and clinical care before, during and after a behavioral health crisis. This position is responsible for a variety of crisis duties with the community including:
- Coordination with law enforcement and the Courts
- Conducting crisis assessment in the field
- Safety Planning
- Case Coordination and linkage to needed services
- Provide outreach to community partners
Children:
Children's Behavioral Health has a variety of programs that serve youth and families throughout Humboldt County. Programs include work with foster youth, incarcerated youth, youth 0-5 years old, youth in crisis, and Transition Age Youth (TAY). Clinicians may work in a variety of settings, as part of multi-disciplinary teams, and have opportunities to travel throughout the county providing services.
Children Youth and Family Services (CYFS) Clinic and Child Welfare Behavioral Health (CWBH):
- Provision of behavioral health services, including assessment and psychotherapy, to a caseload of youth and families.
- Working with multi-disciplinary teams to support treatment goals.
- Supporting families in accessing mental health services.
- Coordination with local community organizations/tribes/schools.
- Timely and accurate notes to claim for services.
Juvenile Hall: This position will work within the Juvenile Hall facility as part of a small team of behavioral health staff providing clinical services to incarcerated youth. The Clinician will team with Juvenile Probation, Corrections, and Humboldt County Office of Education staff, and duties include:
- Clinical assessment, diagnosis, and individual/family counseling
- Group facilitation
- Safety assessment and planning
- Documentation of services and client status/needs
Children's Mobile Response Team (CMRT): This position works with youth that are experiencing a mental health crisis. Youth are typically seen for an assessment in a local hospital emergency room. The clinician may assess for safety, liaison with local hospitals, make community and intra-agency referrals, and coordinate with psychiatry, counseling, case management services, other agencies, clients' families and other collateral supports. This position is responsible for a variety of duties, including:
- Conducting crisis and biopsychosocial assessments with patients and making accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
- Evaluating patients for voluntary and involuntary assessments and treatment; signs legal holds for clients requiring hospitalization.
- Contributing to discharge planning and assisting Behavioral Health staff with the execution of aftercare plans.
Transitional Age Youth (TAY): This position is responsible for clinical services to youth ages16-26 and works collaboratively within the TAY division. Duties include:
- Provide clinical assessment, treatment planning, ongoing therapy, and rehabilitation services to TAY youth.
- Collaborate with other members of the clinical team and agency partners within the TAY division.
- Assist youth with linkage and access to other supportive services and activities.
Quality Improvement:
- Provide clinical expertise for quality improvement activities
- Training to Electronic Health Record SmartCare
- Documentation training
- Chart audits, Organizational provider support, and System improvement
- Special Projects
- Audit Preparation
- Staff training materials and curriculum development
- Policy Development
Special Requirements: This position requires that you possess one of the following current & valid California licenses or registration numbers:
- Intern Registration Number from the State Board of Behavioral Examiners
- Registered Psychologist Number from the State Board of Psychology
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
- Licensed Clinical Psychologist
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor
