POSITON SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining various NYCT security functions. Responsibilities may include managing employees in the Security Command Center, managing Transit Property Protection Agents and Supervisors in the Field Operations Division or managing Special Inspectors, Fare Enforcement Agents and Special Inspector Supervisors in the Fare Enforcement & Anti-Vandalism teams throughout the five boroughs. The candidate will manage security at special events when required and make critical decisions as required. As this is a 24/7 operation, the selected candidate may be required to work various tour of duty, as well as weekends and holidays.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement plans to protect NYC Transit properties and its employees against terrorism, theft, vandalism and other crimes in all subway yards and lay-up areas. Managing Special Inspectors, Fare Enforcement Agents and Special Inspector Supervisors assigned to Fare Enforcement teams throughout the five boroughs. Ensuring the employees are on appropriate assignments and following departments Standard Operating Procedures and protocols. Manage the daily operations of fare enforcement on all NYC Transit buses through the issuance of summonses and strategic deployment of personnel. May be assigned roles that manages timely responses to security incidents and ensure the communication of timely updates to Department of Security Executive Management. Perform other Department of Security related services, including but not limited to formally evaluating the performance of employees, conduct field observations, investigate complaints against employees, prepare reports and conduct analysis of various incidents. Manage security at special events when required and make critical decisions as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. May be required to work hours outside regular work hours, as applicable. Observes the work performed by contractors, as applicable. Reviews invoices and approves them if the work has contractual standards, as applicable. Addresses performance issues with the contractor when possible, as applicable. Escalates issues to other parties when needed, as applicable.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Business Administration, Security Management from an accredited college or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Minimum 7 years Security related experience in Fare Enforcement, Property Protection, and Vandalism Required and Minimum 2 years managerial/supervisory experience in Security field operations Required

DESIRED SKILLS

Experience in Law Enforcement, Security, Military Police, Intelligence, or Enforcement capacity in transportation industry. Required Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions through independent decision-making. Required Knowledge of NYC Transit's rules, regulations, and operating procedures. Final salary is determined experience, skillset, and alignment with compensation practices. The posted range reflects expected compensation and may be updated as market or business needs evolve. To be eligible for consideration for a new role, current MTA employees must complete at least one year of service in their current role prior to applying. Additionally, eligibility to interview is contingent upon maintaining a satisfactory record of job performance, attendance, and disciplinary conduct.
