Registered Nurse – ICU / Rapid Response (RN)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to all Code Blue, Rapid Response Team (RRT), Sepsis Alert, Trauma Alert, and Stroke Alert pages, directing care of medically compromised patients using advanced critical care assessment skills.
• Utilize the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, outcome identification, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver safe, ethical, and patient-centered care.
• Communicate critical patient information with physicians and intensivists using SBAR format; ensure orders are carried out and utilize chain of command when necessary.
• Perform daily rounds for at-risk patients on in-patient units and serve as an impact nurse, assisting with patient care in all critical care areas (ICU, CVICU, ED, ICCU) as needed.
• Conduct debriefings with nursing staff following RRT events to evaluate processes and provide feedback and education; lead in-services and mock codes to promote staff education.
• Assist with data collection, quality improvement initiatives, and participation in performance improvement projects and committee meetings.

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN License (must be in hand)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS Stroke Certification from the American Stroke Association required
• CCRN from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses required
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in Critical Care; 5 years of critical care experience strongly preferred
• Must reside at least 150 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) provider card
• PALS certification
• BSN, MSN, or current enrollment in an RN-BSN program
• Experience floating across multiple critical care settings (ICU, CVICU, ED, ICCU)
