Registered Nurse- 6 Doctors (med/surg)

Job Summary The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for managing, delegating, coordinating, and providing nursing care through the nursing process. The role requires effective communication with patients, significant others, and multidisciplinary health‑care team members, while assessing, treating, and caring for patients of all ages from neonate to geriatric. The nurse demonstrates competency in obtaining and interpreting patient information based on cognitive, biopsychosocial, religious, and cultural factors. Essential Functions Systematically provides nursing care to patients within the framework of the nursing process and established standards of practice. Integrates principles of patient safety in the provision of direct nursing care and medication management. Adheres to established system‑wide communication standards and processes. Participates in designated forums that address patient care, patient education, policy and procedures, safety, and clinical outcomes. Demonstrates accountability for maintaining and improving professional knowledge and skill related to the area of practice. Additional Expectations The nurse is expected to adhere to Montefiore Nyack Hospital’s “We Care” standards, which encompass working together, empowerment, communication, appearance, responsiveness, and excellence in service. These standards promote teamwork, professional accountability, and positive patient interaction. Qualifications Associate Degree required or Bachelor Degree preferred. One year of Med/Surg experience preferred. National certification in area of practice preferred. On‑call required for OR, PACU, and Cath Lab. BLS (Basic Life Support) required. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required for ED, SICU, MICU, 3 Doctors, Cath Lab, Endo, Labor & Delivery, Nursing Radiology, and SDS within 6 months of hire/transfer; PACU within 3 months. PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required for ED, Nursing Radiology, SDS within 6 months of hire/transfer; PACU within 3 months. NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required for Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, NICU within 6 months of hire.
